Mrs. Brown has over two decades of experience in education. She started her teaching career in 1999 and joined HCPSS in 2007. Throughout her journey, she has had the privilege of teaching reading and science to students in grades 3 through 12. In addition to classroom teaching and her current role as principal, Mrs. Brown has served as a team leader and an assistant principal.
Mrs. Brown holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Johns Hopkins University and her pride and joy is fostering a school environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired. Mrs. Brown believes in leading with compassion and kindness, and prioritizes building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families. She strives to nurture a culture of inclusivity where all learners can thrive.
As a lifelong learner, Mrs. Brown finds joy in discovering new perspectives—especially from her students, who teach her something new every day. Outside of school, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, soaking up the sun and seeing new places.

It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families in the Waverly school community. I have over thirty years of instructional and leadership experience in both general and special education. Through my experiences, I have been fortunate to work with a variety of schools, representing students and families from various social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. This is my 12th year as an Assistant Principal, and I have served at both Waverly and Hollifield Station. I am committed to excellence for all students and believe in collaborative partnerships between schools and their families. My husband and I are proud parents of 3 beautiful children who have graduated from the Howard County Public School System. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns. I look forward to a wonderful year!
